The search
engine searches the whole of the library catalogue. If you include
the College Website, by checking the box, the search engine will
search the college's web site as well as the library catalogue.
If you wish to search the college website only, use the box at the
bottom of the screen

If you type more than one word the computer will search for all words
and will only retrieve records which contain all the words (BOOLEAN AND logic). To
change this behavior choose one of these alternatives.
|
|
Trax Indexer has indexed each word from the library catalogue and
the Intranet Web Site. It makes individual indexes searchable, but
a consolidated global index is also available. If you are not sure
which index to use, start with this one. |
|
You can limit the search to a particular media type. Those categorised by the library are options in this box. You can choose
to recover only this media type or all except the media tpe.
|
|
No sorting gives the fastest retrieval times. You
can, however, sort by title , Author, date or class.
|
|
With default options Trax will search the "Global" index. You can use right hand truncation. "corn?" will find
"cornwall", "cornwall's", "Cornish". The search is not case sensitive. You can type more than one word
"local history" for example. If you are searching the global index each
word is searched for individually and the "AND" operation performed.
(unless another boolean operation is chosen).
